This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.
The role
As a Cost Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. You play a central role in shaping the financial performance of a major UK engineering and infrastructure programme. This is a high‑impact position where your insight, leadership, and analytical expertise directly support national defence, engineering excellence and large‑scale programme delivery. You lead a growing cost team, drive best‑practice reporting, elevate forecasting accuracy, and influence commercial outcomes across multi‑partner delivery environments.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
1. Leading and developing a team of 12 to deliver high‑quality cost reporting, forecasting and financial governance.
2. Producing accurate monthly Applications for Payment across multiple Delivery Partners.
3. Maintaining validated cost data, accruals, provisions and monthly Estimates at Completion.
4. Presenting performance insights, cost variances and dashboards to Delivery Partners, Clients and the Project Controls Board.
5. Enhancing systems, processes and tools, including SAGE, ERP systems and cost / earned value platforms.
This role is based in Bridgewater, Somerset, working 37 hours per week, with an expectation of three days onsite. Accommodation and travel expenses will be paid when attending the site.
Essential experience of the Cost Manager:
6. Advanced experience in cost control and forecasting, including variance analysis, cost risk, EACs and budget management.
7. Experience leading or supervising teams in cost, finance, estimating or project controls environments.
8. Strong systems capability, including ERP, SAGE, SAP, Oracle and advanced Excel.
9. Experience working in complex project environments or large‑scale infrastructure delivery.
10. Ability to communicate financial information clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Cost Manager:
11. Professional experience in cost engineering, project controls, finance or a closely related discipline.
