Building a sustainable tomorrow KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland - BAM UK & Ireland's infrastructure segment is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control).The focus of the role is to provide support for survey machine-controlled plant. This role will also support construction checks and as-built of construction operations that are completed with machine-control.Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will be required a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process.
Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.Your team Location: Devonport Dockyard, PlymouthContract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a weekMaking Possible In this role as Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control), you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include:Check and maintain survey control networksSupport machine control application for excavation, demolition and drilling operationsCheck design and create models for machine controlComplete checking of machine control operationsProvide check reports and as-builts, through laser scanning and modelling of point cloudsEnsure survey data is collected and recorded accurately, following project QA/QC standards. Operating survey equipment to the highest of precision within a civils environmentSupport engineers with surveying activities to ensure consistent approaches to surveying and engineeringCoordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment between construction programme and survey operationsAssist with the implementation of quality control procedures, particularly in accordance with QC1 requirements; maintaining the highest standards of traceability, tolerances, reportingManage and archive survey files and records to support project compliance and audits, using the Projects Document Management systemAttend daily briefings and provide updates on survey progress and issuesEnsure all surveying works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulationsSupport other surveying work packages as requiredThis profile is not exhaustive.

Essential:Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or ConstructionSite based roleOperating on a 7/3/7/4 shift pattern as per programme needsExperience in surveying and construction industriesConsiderable years of experience in a similar surveying position on a civil engineering projectExperience with Leica Machine Control equipmentExperience with surveying equipment; total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scannersSurvey data processing software; AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone and Leica 3DRUnderstanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civils contextStrong attention to detail and organisational skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesCSCS Card and relevant site safety qualificationsMember of the CinstCES (or technical member working towards full member), or another bodyAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlinesDesirable:Experience working on major infrastructure or utilities projects (e.g., highways, rail, water, energy, nuclear)Knowledge of BIM or digital construction processesFirst aid and additional safety training certificationsWhats in it for you?
