The successful candidate will be registered with the BSR as a Registered Building Inspector class 2 A-F plan checking and inspections, or close to achieving the same and be willing to achieve higher grades as customer demands dictate. You will carry out plan checks, Building Regulation submissions, and site inspections to ensure building works comply with Building Regulations and all associated industry standards. Inspections will include domestic and non-domestic projects. The successful candidate will ensure that Building Control work is carried out in accordance with documented procedures, timescales and deadlines. You will be expected to carry out efficient and regular Building Regulation inspections for all projects (including non-domestic) and to compile accurate records within the allotted time scales. You will be required to join the rota to perform emergency out-of-hours inspections for dangerous structures and advise on remedial measures to be undertaken. The Building Control service sits within the Housing & Planning Team within the Place Directorate. It is also a team which proactively collaborates with a range of teams across the Council. If you have the ability to clearly communicate and provide advice on technical Building Control matters, the ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and technical information and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team then this role may be of interest to you. To be eligible for this role, you must have Maths and English GCSE or equivalent, NVQ in built environment qualification, and be a registered BSR Class 2A-F, or working towards that.
