This post offers an opportunity for individuals with an intermediate level of training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy to work in an established NHS psychotherapy service. The service is based at Gwendolen House in Leicester and primarily provides weekly individual and group psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The post-holder may be supported to undertake a qualifying training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Responsibilities include managing a clinical caseload under supervision and being part of the psychotherapy service linked to a local community team. The service has strong connections with other psychological therapy services and with dynamic psychotherapy services in Derby and Nottingham.
To qualify for this role, candidates must have an intermediate level of training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, experience as a psychotherapist, and qualification in a core mental health profession or equivalent mental health experience.

Job Description Summary (Main Duties and Responsibilities)
The successful candidate will see a caseload of patients for dynamic psychotherapy under supervision, participate in team meetings, and assess referrals for suitability. The role involves managing patients with severe and complex problems, including personality disorders, with sensitivity and skill.
Responsibilities include organizing a complex clinical caseload, undertaking specialized risk assessments, formulating care plans, and communicating effectively with patients, referrers, and clinicians about treatment options. Regular supervision from a senior psychotherapist is essential.
