The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time priest to be Vicar to the Benefice of Bedlington, Cambois and Sleekburn, who will work alongside the people there to
* Worship God
* Serve people by speaking and living the good news of the Gospel
* Enable others to do the same
The benefice comprises of the ancient market town of Bedlington, the fourth biggest town in Northumberland, along with settlements at Bedlington Station, East Sleekburn and the coastal settlements of Cambois. Situated close to the Northumberland National Park and coastline, there is a proud mining and football heritage and with good transport links the area attracts people to live here who work in Newcastle and North Tyneside.
The congregations are looking to continue to deepen their faith, engage with their communities and grow their participation in mission and ministry. Key to this role is continuing close links with the Church of England primary school and the other primary and secondary schools in the Benefice, along with the strengthening of other community partnerships. There is also a need to increase capacity to engage with the different challenges and opportunities in the area, such as new housing developments and industries such as Northumberland Energy Park and a new Data Centre being built near Cambois.
