Job Description
We are currently seeking an Operations Controller to join our Operations team at our Burton Latimer site on a full-time, permanent basis.
As an Operations Controller, you will contribute to the success of the site by managing drivers and vehicles, ensuring legal requirements are adhered to, vehicles are roadworthy, and drivers work within EU driver regulations. You will also have some responsibility for effective site management in accordance with company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant H&S regulations.
Shift: 4 on 4 off, 18:00 - 06:00.
Salary: £34,624.51 per annum.
Key Duties of an Operations Controller include:
* Efficiently managing the outbound schedule to ensure collection and delivery times are met.
* Issuing instructions to designated staff to maintain a smooth flow of inbound and outbound work.
* Controlling paperwork for outbound shipments, ensuring 100% accuracy.
* Controlling the flow of international inbound shipments to ensure scheduling adherence and to limit potential demurrage claims.
* Fulfilling paperwork requirements for dispatches.
* Communicating issues to the Shift Manager promptly to minimise disruption to the schedule.
* Liaising with the transport department to ensure a continual trailer flow.
* Participating actively as a member of the operations team and offering suggestions for solving problems, improving efficiency, and enhancing customer and quality focus.
* Maintaining good communication with transport providers to prevent late collections and delivery failures.
* Producing a thorough, detailed handover to the following shift, highlighting potential issues, reminders, and the current state of play.
Qualifications
* GSCE in Maths and English at least a grade 'C' or equivalent.
* 5 GSCEs at at least a grade 'C' or equivalent.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Strong working knowledge of GTS and the GTS system.
* Knowledge and experience within the logistics sector.
* Good working knowledge of WTD and EU drivers' hours regulations.
* Nationally recognised Health and Safety qualification.
* CPC National Qualification.
* At least 5 years' experience in a managerial role within the transport industry.
