Looking for a job that’s more than just a job?
Start your career journey with Peninsula Pensions and get paid to learn, grow, and make a real impact from day one.
We’re on the lookout for a motivated, curious, and enthusiastic apprentice to join our team. If you’re ready to build skills, gain experience, and work with a team that’s passionate about what they do—this is your chance. This is an 18-month apprenticeship, starting in September, with full training and support throughout. And while the apprenticeship is just the beginning, we hope it will lead to a contracted or permanent role within the Pensions team for the right candidate.
What makes this role exciting?
You’ll gain experience across three key areas of our service, giving you a broad skill set and keeping your work varied and interesting:
1. Technical & Training – build your knowledge of pensions, gain an understanding of payroll processes, and learn how to support others through training and guidance
2. Member Services – get hands-on with a wide range of pension administration tasks and calculations, giving you a strong understanding of how pensions work overall
3. Employer & Communications – support clear, effective communication and help real people—employers and members—understand their pension options and responsibilities. You’ll also gain practical office experience through tasks like post handling, scanning, and indexing.
And you won’t be doing it alone—you’ll be based in an office full of friendly, supportive colleagues who are always happy to help and share their knowledge.
What you’ll be doing:
4. Supporting our front-line team to deliver excellent service to pension scheme members
5. Learning how to calculate and process pension benefits
6. Communicating with customers by phone and email
7. Working towards a nationally recognised qualification while gaining hands-on experience
What we’re looking for:
8. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn
9. Great attention to detail and communication skills
10. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade 4 (C) or above
11. An interest in business, finance, or public service
What you’ll get:
12. A starting salary of £24,027 and 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays)
13. Flexible working options once trained, so you can balance work and life
14. Full training and support from a friendly, experienced team
15. A nationally recognised qualification through our Step In Apprenticeship Programme
16. Access to staff benefits including discounts, wellbeing support, and a great pension scheme
