Health and Safety Officer
Location: Wolverhampton
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, Days
Salary: 30,000 to 35,000

We are seeking a motivated Health and Safety Officer to join a market-leading company in their industry. Reporting to the HSE Manager, the successful candidate will lead key aspects of the business, including managing hard and soft services, site and facilities maintenance, and health, safety, and environmental improvement projects. This role is ideal for a strong HSEQ professional seeking a challenging opportunity within a secure and stable organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Serve as the primary contact for all Health and Safety matters daily.
2. Escalate unresolved concerns requiring additional support.
3. Lead reporting and investigation of all accidents.
4. Coordinate with external Health and Safety auditors, ensuring findings are addressed and closed out.
5. Oversee risk management processes in collaboration with internal teams, ensuring effective monitoring and communication of Health and Safety obligations.
6. Develop, review, and update Health and Safety training programs to keep staff fully informed and compliant.
7. Manage internal and external audit reports and inspections, ensuring compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, and other standards.
8. Monitor working practices of employees and contractors, providing regular updates to Directors.
9. Apply knowledge of legislation, codes of practice, and guidance to support operational teams.
10. Prepare and review COSHH assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Risk Assessments confidently.
11. Conduct daily quality checks, raising issues and implementing solutions as needed.
12. Take on full Charge Hand responsibilities, supporting production needs and team tasks, including hands-on work on the factory floor. Emphasize teamwork over hierarchy.
Skills / Qualifications:
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
* Ability to work collaboratively to achieve best practices across the business.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, to explain procedures to internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience with data analytics, KPI creation, and problem-solving to improve health and safety standards.
* Ability to meet production deadlines and support team needs.
