Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will work with LDRS across our West Midlands brands and across our Live Network, ensuring they produce content that consistently meets contractual obligations and BBC requirements. You will support LDRs in creating content that engages readers, reaches a wide audience and incorporates best practice. You will work within the LDRS portal to guarantee that all content is published according to the service level agreement workflows and timescales. You will publish content online while ensuring that local brand workflows and values are adhered to, meeting Reach digital publishing standards.
You will ensure optimal use of LDRS content across Reach brands, supporting the publication and sharing of relevant stories across Live Network brands. You will ensure that every piece of content is legally sound and adheres to the IPSO Code at all times. You will mentor and develop LDRs who report directly to you, conducting monthly one-on-one check-ins, sharing audience data, performing appraisals and recognising great performance to help them reach their full potential.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are an experienced NCTJ qualified (or equivalent senior qualified) journalist with exceptional knowledge of media law and IPSO editors’ code. You may be a content editor with a passion for public affairs or an experienced senior reporter with an outstanding news sense with an understanding of public interest journalism, looking to step up into a desk role. You have excellent news judgement and the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
You have people management experience that enables you to guide and mentor reporters. You have first-class digital publishing skills, a firm grasp of SEO and impeccable planning, organisation and problem solving skills. You have a rigorous attention to detail and can craft strong headlines and social sells - as well as spot and act on analytics trends. This role typically works a Monday to Friday schedule, however some flexibility is required for high profile political events like elections.
