Role Responsibility

Family Hubs are part of Kent County Councils offer to support children and young people, aged 0-19 (SEND 25) and their families.

Our local Family Hubs offer a broad and integrated range of services for families, which include midwifery, health visiting, parenting support and activities for children and young people.

We have 56 Family Hubs across Kent, where we operate alongside our partners to support local communities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the newly formed Family Hub team in the Folkestone and Hythe District. The successful candidate will operate as a Family Hub Practitioner within the Family Hub team in an agile fashion at a variety of outreach settings (including home visiting) within the district providing 1:1 and group support to children and their families. The role will work closely with wider childrens services team and with a range of multi-agency partners including schools, police, district council and community organisations to provide support for vulnerable children and their families.

This role focuses on young people aged 11 -19. You will deliver groups, including the Compass programme (based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), and provide 1:1 support to young people in a range of settings, including the home, school and Family Hub. Family Hubs sit at the heart of local communities, enabling families to access the right support at the right time.

Training will also be provided in a range of exciting Family Hub projects that are being delivered as part of Kents Family Hub offer.

You will need to operate a whole family approach in your practice and work around the times of the family. As such, this post will be expected to work flexibly including, on occasions, evenings and weekends, and will be coordinated by management as required.

The post will be based in Folkestone however you will also be required to work across the Folkestone and Hythe district, therefore, the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner is essential.

The post is a permanent part time role for 18.5 hours per week, exact days and working patterns can be discussed but it will involve some evenings, no more than 2 per week finishing around 8.00pm. The other hours can be flexible and discussed to meet business need and those of the applicant.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
