At National Grid, we light up the world by harnessing the unique strengths of our people. Join us as a Procurement & Contract Specialist to be part of a team that's driving forward the energy transition, creating a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
As a Procurement and Contract Specialist, you will shape and deliver strong, collaborative contractual partnerships that drive real commercial value for National Grid. You will lead negotiations, deploy expert teams, and put robust agreements in place that protect our interests and enable suppliers to perform at their best. Working at the heart of our commercial strategy, you will help eliminate preventable value loss and ensure contracts are delivered efficiently, compliantly and to maximum impact.
What You’ll Do:
* Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage contracts end to end, from conception through to completion - identifying risks early, implementing mitigation plans, and maximising opportunities to drive value.
* Act as the commercial lead on supplier contracts, providing expert commercial leadership across a diverse portfolio to maximise contract efficiency, performance and value.
* Proactively build, develop and maintain strong strategic partnerships with suppliers and contractors, strengthening relationships, influencing external stakeholders and enhancing National Grid’s reputation.
* Partner with and coach suppliers to encourage new market entrants, supporting the availability of equipment that meets required standards of quality, cost and performance.
* Lead the implementation of Supplier and Contractor Performance Management processes, monitoring contract delivery, reporting on performance and escalating issues where required.
* Own the commercial management of development contracts, shaping and agreeing contractual requirements that deliver against business objectives, remain within budget, comply with policy and drive mutual value.
* Provide specialist commercial support to wider teams and projects, contributing expertise as required to support successful delivery.
What You’ll Have:
* Experience of setting up, negotiating and managing supplier contractual arrangements.
* Customer management experience, with a strong track record of influencing customers and partner organisations.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and influencing a large, devolved team.
* Ability to analyse KPIs and contract data, to manage contract performance and support commercial decision making.
