At LifeArc, we want to hear from people who are as passionate as we are about making life science life changing for patients.This Industrial Placement in antibody and small molecule drug development is an opportunity to get involved with exciting work in our Bioinformatics teambased at our state-of-the-art centre for Translational Science in Stevenage. Within this centre, we have an active programme in neurodegeneration (including Motor Neuron Disease) and offer antibody humanisation as a service.Youwork closely with our bioinformatics team to gain valuable experience in a major life sciences organisation. You'll also get to collaborate and interact with our wider Data Science teamthat has expertise in areas such as Chemoinformatics, Data Engineering, AI & ML and Health Data Science.Youapply bioinformatics and data science techniques including analysis of omics scale data, R\/Python programming, statistical data analysis and visualisation. Depending on the nature of the projects, there may be an opportunity to combine the bioinformatics aspects with laboratory data generation.By engaging with our team, youimmerse yourself in a collaborative research environment where your analytical thinking and enthusiasm for Bioinformatics and Data Sciences will be encouraged and developed. Our placement students gain direct exposure to the application of computational approaches in real-world biomedical research, contributing to impactful projects and working with cutting-edge technologies. Youhave the chance to build your technical skills, develop innovative solutions to biological questions, and participate in discussions that shape the direction of ongoing initiatives. This hands-on experience will equip you with valuable expertise while offering opportunities for professional growth as you integrate into our vibrant community dedicated to transforming scientific discovery into patient benefit.During your placement, youhave the opportunity to use the work you do here to assist with your degree submission and gain research experience.To maximise LifeArc studentsexperience, the Industrial Placement role is required to be on-site working 5 days per week. This enables students to connect with colleagues, participate in team projects and events, make contacts, build networks, and importantly, accelerate their learning.About youEducation & experience required: apply for this role, you must be:Currently in youryearand studying for your first degree.Available to commence a 12-month placement from September 2026 as part of your degree course.Studying a biological disciplinethat incorporates asignificant analysis or computational component.This could for example, be a biology or genetics degree involving modules in programming and statistical data analysis, or a dedicated bioinformatics or computational biology degree.As part of our assessment procedure, we're also looking for someone who has:Evidence that they will achieve at least a 2:1 classificationEperience in coding using either R or pythonExperience with statistical data analysis, and data visualisationAs a candidate you should also beCollaborativeDriven and determinedAnalytically mindedAccountableAdaptableKeen to learnAn effective communicatorAbout usAt LifeArc, our ambition is to make life science life changing.
