Overview

Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker

Company: Response

Location: Grove House, Oxford

Salary: £25,325 - £27,378 per annum (salaries vary depending on experience)

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Sunday, inclusive of bank holidays. Shifts include mornings, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.

Our mission is to enable people of all ages to live a more fulfilled life by providing excellent mental health services, housing, and supported living. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join our team at Grove House, which is designed to meet the needs of residents with enduring mental health. Grove House is staffed 24 hours a day, with a daytime team and a sleep-in member of staff. Staff offer a high level of support to help clients achieve personal goals and gain increased independence.

What You’ll Be Doing:

* Provide person-centred support to residents with serious mental illness, including adults with a primary diagnosis of a psychotic illness, often with coexisting conditions such as physical health issues, neurodiversity, drugs and alcohol use, and cognitive impairment.
* Work with residents to enable them to achieve and sustain a rewarding life in the community, promoting independence, well-being and the ability to manage their own mental health.
* Ensure safety through strong housing management, risk assessment and health and safety practice.
* Support residents to maintain tenancies, look after their homes and develop daily living skills.
* Provide emotional support, encouragement and practical assistance with daily living activities (including medication assistance, engaging with interests, education, accessing community groups/facilities, employment, budgeting, shopping, using public transport, cooking and meal planning).
* Foster a supportive and empowering environment that promotes residents’ independence.
* Monitor clients’ physical and mental health through keyworking, ensuring access to primary health services or liaising with mental health services; support attendance at appointments as required.
* Ensure daily paperwork is completed and support the Service Manager to achieve monthly service targets.
* Adhere to all Health and Safety measures to keep residents, visitors and colleagues safe; proactively maintain properties and resident rooms to a good standard.
* Promote engagement with family, friends and carers, ensuring they are involved in their loved one’s support and kept informed about the service.

The Successful Applicant:

* GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
* A commitment to continual personal development, including completing the Care Certificate.
* IT literate with experience using MS Office packages.
* Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
* Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.
* A genuine interest in mental health and well-being with a commitment to delivering Response’s mission.
* Ability to provide non-judgemental, emotional and practical support to residents.
* Demonstrates high levels of personal and professional integrity, working to Response’s vision, mission and values.
* Ability to follow health and safety procedures and respect for difference and diversity.
