Role summary
Do you have a head for heights? The idea of maintaining large cranes excites you? You will learn how to maintain, repair, service, and upgrade our customers\' overhead gantry cranes. This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your engineering career with prospects at a global market leader.
Apprenticeship outcome
On completing your apprenticeship, you will secure a full-time permanent position as a Service Technician at Konecranes. 100% of our UK Apprentices have gained permanent employment after completing our Apprenticeship Programme, with many progressing to senior and global roles.
What you will achieve
* Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacturing
* BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering
* Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance
What you will be doing
* Year 1 – full-time attendance at a local college or training provider (off the job training)
* Year 2 and 3 – day release attendance at college, with on-the-job training and additional training at our Banbury Centre
What you will learn
* First principles relating to operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical plant equipment (motors, switchgear, cables & conductors, pumps, valves, gearboxes, pipework, integrated electromechanical power and control systems)
* Industry health and safety standards, regulations, and environmental requirements
* Planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance practices across a range of plant and equipment
* Engineering principles related to the role of a Service Technician
Entry requirements
* Minimum 17 years old on the first day of apprenticeship (as of 24 August 2026)
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs with Grade 4/C or above including Maths, English and a Science
* Able to climb ladders and work at heights
* Must be able to travel to a designated college in your area (up to 1 hour away)
* Live locally / within commuting distance (30 miles) of the Branch location
* IT skills
* Must pass manual driving test by end of year 1
