We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated MedicalSecretary to join our admin team to provide support to the doctors and healthprofessionals and Management Team. The post holder will need to be competent inaudio typing and word processing and will require excellent communicationskills.
The candidate would ideally be qualified or have someknowledge of being a medical secretary in a GP Surgery, but the practice wouldprovide training to the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
Toprovide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs andHealth Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports,patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc. in an accurate and quality manner
Liaisewith secondary and primary care colleagues with regards to waiting times andcorrespondence
Prepareinvoices for private work.
Senddeath certificates/cremation paperwork to the coroners office/undertakers.
To makeappointments and bookings as required.
Toestablish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written orcomputer information is easily accessible and secure.
Toprovide flexible cover for members of the secretarial team during periods ofsickness and annual leave
Liaisewith PCSE
Toregister permanent, temporary and deduct patients as required
Participatein audit where appropriate
Keep upto date with changes in referrals processes, limited clinical benefits, withregards to secondary and private care

Toretrieve medical records and assist the completion of medical/insurancerecords.
Filepatient records and correspondence in patient medical records
Toreceive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls to facilitate timely andappropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing withappropriate queries

Person Specification
Experience
* Exceptional spelling and grammar for typing clinical and administrative letters and other correspondence
* High level of written and oral communication skills
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise work.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and independently
* Experience of working in primary care
* Experience of working in a GP practice
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* AMSPAR medical secretarial or equivalent qualification
* RSA stage 2 typing plus audio typing and text processing or equivalent qualification
* Experience of working within a GP practice
* Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system
* Knowledge of Lexacom
* High knowledge of medical terminology to accurately type out letters, medical reports, and other documents
* Computer literacy, including a working knowledge of relevant programs, such as Word and Excel
