We are seeking an experienced PMO professional who blends traditional programme governance expertise with an agile, innovative mindset. This role is pivotal in ensuring alignment, transparency, and value across complex programmes with multiple workstreams. You will champion modern ways of working, leverage tooling such as JIRA to create a single source of truth and provide actionable insights that inform decision-making. This is not a policing role; it’s about enabling delivery, driving efficiency, and fostering collaboration.
What you’ll be doing
* Governance & Standards
o Develop and maintain project management standards and processes based on BT Group’s unified methodology, ensuring compliance and effective governance without unnecessary overhead.
o Support the Programme Team in creating and managing programme and project structures aligned to strategic objectives, ensuring prioritisation and coordination across the organisation.
* Financial & KPI Management
o Manage financial and KPI information for the programme, working closely with the team to ensure costs remain within expectations.
o Provide accurate, timely reporting to support informed decision-making.
* Risk, Issues & Dependencies
o Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and issues across workstreams, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring they are tracked and reported effectively.
* Tooling & Transparency
o Configure and manage JIRA to execute day-to-day programme activities and maintain a single source of truth.
o Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms that provide real-time visibility for stakeholders.
* Data-Driven Insights
o Use data and analytics to deliver insights that add value and inform strategic decisions.
o Highlight trends, risks, and opportunities through meaningful metrics.
* Stakeholder Engagement
o Provide regular status updates to the executive board and senior management, ensuring clarity on progress and any issues impacting delivery.
o Act as a trusted advisor, communicating complex information in a clear and compelling way.
* Leadership & Continuous Improvement
o Mentor and develop team members, share knowledge and best practices to improve delivery efficiency.
o Drive innovation in PMO practices, promoting transparency and collaboration across the programme.
* People & Capacity Allocation Reporting
o Develop and maintain robust processes for tracking people's allocation and capacity across all programme workstreams, ensuring optimal resource utilisation and early identification of gaps or bottlenecks.
o Produce regular, data-driven reports on workforce allocation, availability, and forecasted demand, providing actionable insights to delivery leads and senior management.
o Collaborate with team leads and Delivery Ops to ensure accurate headcount, skills mapping, and future capacity planning, supporting both short-term delivery and long-term strategic workforce needs.
o Leverage tooling (e.g., JIRA, dashboards) to provide real-time visibility of people's allocation and capacity, enabling transparent decision-making and proactive adjustments.
Experience you'll have
* Proven experience in PMO roles within Agile environments, ideally on large-scale programmes.
* Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and ability to integrate them with traditional governance.
* Advanced proficiency in JIRA configuration and reporting.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to interpret data and translate insights into meaningful actions.
* Experience managing financials, KPIs, risks, and dependencies in complex programmes.
* Demonstrable experience in people and capacity reporting within complex, multi-workstream programmes.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret resource data and translate it into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
* Proficiency in using project management and reporting tools (such as JIRA, Power BI, or similar) to visualise and communicate resource allocation and capacity trends.
* A proactive, innovative mindset focused on value creation, not bureaucracy.
