Senior Software Support Engineer
* Hybrid – London
* £70,000 - £90,000
A fast growing eCommerce SaaS company in London who have a global customer base and extremely innovative product suite are in need of an experienced Software Support Engineer. This will be a hugely impactful role, working with Ruby on rails & JavaScript software applications, AWS cloud environments and Linux-based systems.
You will be working with an exciting SaaS platform as part of a talented team of Software Engineers & Architects. NearTech have helped this company with several key hires this year as they continue to grow.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Software Support Engineer to make our client’s product dependable, intuitive, and frustration-free for their global customers.
This is not a maintenance role! You’ll lead improvements across our entire system — backend, frontend, and infrastructure — to fix friction points, enhance usability, and make our platform bulletproof.
If you’re a full-stack engineer (Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, AWS) who enjoys solving complex issues, improving processes, and making large systems feel effortless to users, you’ll thrive here.
What You’ll Do
* Own product stability end-to-end: investigate, reproduce, and resolve issues across the stack.
* Define and optimise our bug triage and resolution process.
* Turn user pain points into small, impactful product enhancements.
* Collaborate with Support, Product, and Engineering to prevent repeat issues.
* Build automation to streamline debugging, triage, and regression prevention.
* Improve system performance, reliability, and developer experience.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong experience with Ruby on Rails, modern JavaScript, and AWS.
* Skilled with SQL databases at scale and comfortable in Linux environments.
* Proven ability to diagnose and fix complex production issues in large systems.
* A product mindset — you think about user experience and usability as much as code.
* Strong debugging, system design, and performance optimisation skills.
* A data-driven approach: you track and measure impact (e.g. MTTR, bug age).
Why You’ll Love This Opportunity…
* High-impact work: every fix improves usability for hundreds of thousands of users.
* Results-driven culture with short feedback loops and autonomy to ship improvements fast.
* Hybrid setup: 2 office days, 3 remote.
* 30 days holiday + bank holidays.
* Private health insurance, pension via salary sacrifice, and new MacBook.
* “Work from Anywhere” up to 4 weeks per year.
* Regular team lunches, quarterly events.
