We are seeking a contract Investment Risk Director to take a pivotal role in managing and overseeing investment risks across a diverse portfolio.
Location: Scotland
Role Type : Hybrid – Contract
The Role
As part of the Governance, Legal, Risk & Compliance function (Second Line of Defence), you will:
6. Provide independent, robust risk assessments of both potential and existing investments.
7. Challenge and advise colleagues in Investments, Portfolio Management, and across the business to ensure sound risk management.
8. Present independent risk views and recommendations to Investment Committees.
9. Develop and enhance risk policies, frameworks, and processes.
10. Mentor colleagues and deputise for the Head of Investment Risk when required.
About You
We are looking for a senior risk leader with:
11. Significant experience in investment risk or credit risk within a regulated financial services environment.
12. A proven background across private equity, venture capital, private debt, project finance, or commercial lending.
13. Strong expertise in corporate credit analysis, equity and debt structuring, and distressed investment recovery.
14. The ability to analyse complex information, exercise sound judgement, and clearly communicate risk insights.
15. Knowledge of UK financial regulatory requirements, and ideally UK/EU subsidy control regulations.
16. Professional qualifications such as FRM, CFA or equivalent (highly desirable).
