Job Opportunity: Knitting Machine Operative
Location: Leyland
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Knitting Machine Operative to join a fantastic employer in Leyland. This is a great opportunity to work in a supportive environment with excellent long-term prospects.
Core Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Setup: Set up, operate, and monitor industrial knitting machines (e.g., circular or warp knitting machines) according to production schedules. This includes selecting yarns, threading machines, and inputting data or selecting software for specific patterns.
Quality Control: Monitor production processes and inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications. Identify and segregate any defective products or material faults.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform first-line preventative maintenance, such as cleaning and oiling machines, and changing needles or other components. Identify and resolve minor machine issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Documentation & Compliance: Accurately complete work records, production logs, and reports. Follow all health and safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
Work Environment: Maintain an efficient and safe workstation and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding instructions and potential issues.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills: Experience with industrial knitting machinery (brands like Stoll or Shima Seiki desirable). Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and instructions.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality and precision when monitoring production and making machine adjustments.
Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination for handling yarns, threading machines, and performing maintenance tasks.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot machine breakdowns and rectify product faults quickly.
Physical Stamina: Comfortable with standing for long periods and working in a manufacturing environment around moving machinery.Why Apply?
