Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) is seeking an experienced, motivated and community‑focused Neighbourhood Housing Officer to join our Customer Services team on a fixed‑term basis for 12 months. This is a key role responsible for leading housing and estate management services within designated neighbourhoods, supporting Tenants to sustain their tenancies, addressing neighbourhood issues and delivering high‑quality, locally responsive services that make a real difference to people’s lives. Salary: £37,422 – £41,335 per annum (pay award pending) Location: Selkirk, Scottish Borders Hours and terms: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, fixed‑term for 12 months Closing Date: 19 April 2026 The Role: The Neighbourhood Housing Officer will act as the lead officer for designated neighbourhoods, delivering high‑quality housing and estate management services in line with legislation, best practice and the Association’s policies. The role has a strong focus on tenancy sustainment, rent collection, anti‑social behaviour management and community engagement. You will work closely with Tenants, colleagues and partner agencies to design and deliver services that support balanced, sustainable communities. This post is subject to Disclosure Scotland clearance. Summary of Tasks and Responsibilities: - Lead the delivery of neighbourhood, tenancy and estate management services within designated areas - Manage rent collection and arrears recovery, ensuring early intervention and effective action - Respond to and manage anti‑social behaviour and breaches of tenancy conditions proportionately and efficiently - Promote tenancy sustainment through Tenant support, welfare and financial inclusion advice, and referrals to support services - Provide high‑quality housing advice, supporting customers through housing processes and helping prevent homelessness - Carry out regular estate inspections and oversee neighbourhood service standards - Develop and deliver local lettings and community priorities in partnership with tenants and colleagues - Maintain accurate records on housing management and CRM systems, ensuring data protection compliance - Build strong relationships with Tenants, communities and partner agencies to deliver effective services A full list of duties and responsibilities is available in the full Job Description - link below. What we're looking for: Essential - A minimum of three years’ experience delivering front‑line housing services - Good working knowledge of housing and welfare benefits legislation - Strong customer service, communication and negotiation skills - Ability to manage complex workloads, deal with challenging situations and problem‑solve effectively - Confident use of IT systems, including housing management and Microsoft Office - A flexible and resilient approach, with willingness to work occasional evenings - Full driving licence and access to own transport Desirable - A relevant qualification in Housing Management (or working towards one) - Experience working within a housing association or social housing environment - Knowledge of community engagement, tenant participation or locality working - Experience using centralised housing management systems Being part of the SBHA team, you will enjoy a fantastic range of benefits including a competitive salary, flexible working, generous annual leave, stability of employment and a good pension scheme.
