Finance Manager
up to £75k + bonus
Hybrid - 3 days in
Must have audit background / ACA qualified
Retail Background

As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the financial accounting and reporting for a UK-based business and its subsidiaries. The role includes overseeing the preparation of timely, complete, and accurate monthly management accounts for senior leadership, business partnering with department heads, and managing the business's cash function.

Responsibilities will include:
Team Management
Direct management of two accountants.
Conduct regular performance reviews, ensuring appropriate support, development, and training is in place for the team.

Management Accounts

* Full ownership of monthly management accounts for multiple entities, including variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Coordinate and review outputs from the team to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
* Prepare relevant journals and reconciliations.
* Manage all group and UK reporting using the company's financial consolidation system.
* Responsible for end-of-month, hard close, and year-end processes.
* Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and internal group financial policies.
* Prepare ad hoc financial reports including profitability and cost analysis.
* Act as key contact for system-related accounting issues and support training/induction as needed.

Business Partnering

* Work closely with allocated departments to manage costs and performance.
* Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with FP&A.
* Provide analysis to identify and manage financial risk or deviations from plan.

Statutory & External Reporting

* Coordinate and review audit deliverables for both interim and year-end audits.
* Act as the primary point of contact for external and internal audit queries.
* Liaise with group finance, tax authorities, and statutory bodies as required.
* Oversee submission of government statistical reporting and compliance documents.

Candidate Specifications:

* Essential: Fully qualified accountant ACA (would also consider ACCA) Audit background with at least 3 years experience in Industry, specifically the Retail sector
* 3-5+ years' experience in a similar finance role
* Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP, and UK tax regulations.
* Demonstrated experience in management accounting and financial reporting within a commercial setting.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Experience using financial systems (e.g., ERP and group reporting software).
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Proactive, organised, and able to work independently with a problem-solving mindset.
