About the role
The Senior Transport Planner will manage and coordinate container transport operations from Felixstowe and London Gateway. Responsibilities include overseeing traffic sheets, managing trucks and drivers, ensuring service levels and revenue targets are met, booking VBS slots, maintaining efficient transport schedules, and resolving daily operational issues. Working hours are 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekend on‑call support as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Plan transport operations from Felixstowe and London Gateway on allocated traffic sheets
* Manage allocated trucks to meet revenue targets and service levels
* Manage drivers and maintain strong communication and working relationships
* Resolve all day‑to‑day operational issues efficiently
* Book and manage VBS slots accurately
* Monitor and maintain efficient transport schedules and delivery performance
* Support smooth day‑to‑day running of container transport operations
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years experience in a transport planning role within haulage, container, or logistics. Strong knowledge of port operations, VBS systems, and preferably TOPS or similar planning systems. Must be confident working under pressure in a fast‑paced environment, with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to meet tight deadlines. Strong communication, IT competence, proactive, can‑do attitude, team player and proven leader.
