Job details Job role Administration, HR, data and finance Visa sponsorship Visas cannot be sponsored Working pattern Part time Contract type Permanent Full-time equivalent salary £12.30 per hour Break/Lunch Supervisor (10.10 to 11.40 and/or 12.40 to 2.10pm) job summary Abbey College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Purpose of the Job: To ensure the security and care of the pupils of the school and to promote their social development during the break/ lunch time period. Main Duties and Responsibilities: To supervise pupils, during the break/ lunch period, in dining hall, playground areas and school premises, ensuring the safety, welfare, physical and mental well-being of pupils and the maintenance of good order and discipline. To report to the duty lead at beginning of the duty period and receive any instructions with regard to duties. To support the lining up of students at the end of break/lunch. To monitor the behaviour of pupils discouraging in a positive way any anti-social behaviour and reporting any incidents to the duty lead as appropriate. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, providing emotional support where necessary. To arrange and supervise appropriate activities under the direction of the duty lead. To ensure that all pupils who suffer any injury or accident are dealt with appropriately in accordance with the school's agreed procedures. To supervise students in any nominated place. To deal with any misbehaviour that may occur in accordance with the school's behaviour policy. Report, as appropriate, incidents to the duty lead or SSO Team. To ensure any spillages of food/ drink are reported to the Estates and Facilities team and ensure students are clearing away rubbish. To ensure that pupils who leave the school site have permission to do so. To supervise pupils on the school premises in the hall, classrooms, on stairs and through corridors, when they are not outside because of inclement weather. To check toilet areas regularly to ensure that they are clean and being used appropriately. To report any problems to the Duty Lead. To: 1. take part in training appropriate to the job. 2. take part in any appraisal arrangement made by the school. Help Prepare Hall for Second Break/Lunch between Duties To undertake any other reasonable duty as directed by the Headteacher or delegated alternative. Wellbeing Ensure all pupils have equal access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources, where necessary. Liaise with pastoral staff members to ensure the wellbeing of pupils and their full participation in school life. Raise any concerns regarding pupils' behaviour with the relevant Raising Standards Lead. Implement any specific arrangements for individual pupils, ensuring that relevant staff members are aware of the measures in place. Provide individual pastoral support to pupils, where necessary. Continuously motivate and challenge pupils, whilst promoting and reinforcing self-esteem. Safeguarding To have the ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people. Appreciate the significance of safeguarding and interprets this accurately for all individual children and young people whatever their life circumstances. To have a good understanding of the safeguarding agenda and can demonstrate an ability to contribute towards a safe environment. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice and information in accurate spoken English is essential for the post Variation Clause This job description will be reviewed and updated periodically in order to ensure that it relates to the job performed or to incorporate any proposed changes. This procedure will be conducted by the Headteacher or line manager in consultation with the post-holder. In these circumstances it will be the aim to reach agreement on reasonable changes but if agreement is not possible management reserves the right to make changes to the job description following consultation.
