Overview
Participate in the efficient co-ordination and delivery of care for patients including assessment, diagnosis, administration of treatment and discharge or referral to other healthcare professionals/external agencies. Work as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-professional team, within a fast paced environment, to deliver care to patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems in line with protocols and policies of the local service. They will provide clinical expertise, professional leadership and education, ensuring high standards of evidence-based clinical practice at all times.
Manage the unit on a day to day basis acting as shift co-ordinator and assist the clinical leads in the management of team members. Support the development of students, trainees and junior members of staff. Participate in and adhere to policies, governance requirements, implementation of service improvements and strive to meet national targets. The UTC team is passionate about getting it right for patients and their families - in order to achieve this we are looking to recruit Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioners/ Emergency Care Practitioner to complement our existing team.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical expertise, leadership and education to support high standards of evidence-based clinical practice.
* Work as part of a multi-professional team in a fast-paced environment, delivering care to patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems in line with local service protocols and policies.
* Act as shift co-ordinator and assist clinical leads in the day-to-day management of the unit and team members.
* Assess and treat patients presenting with minor injuries/illness and provide a complete package of care for minor injury/illness patients.
* Support the development of students, trainees and junior staff.
* Contribute to policy adherence, governance requirements, service improvements and achievement of national targets.
* Promote change and quality throughout the team and be committed to excellent patient care.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner / Emergency Care Practitioner with a proven background in minor injury/illness or primary care.
* Qualifications in Clinical Examination and in Minor Injuries/Minor Illness.
* Ability to assess and stream the full range of patients who present to a busy Urgent Treatment Centre and work under pressure.
* Opportunity for further development, with support from a Nurse Consultant and Clinical Lead.
