Job Description: Early Years Educator Apprentice at Granby Wickersley
Granby Wickersley is a privately owned, Ofsted-registered day nursery committed to providing the highest quality day care and early years education for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
We offer a full-time position upon completion of the apprenticeship. The role involves:
1. Being responsible for a small group of children in your key room as their key person, ensuring their care and supporting their learning and development with qualified staff assistance.
2. Planning and observing the children’s development to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) learning objectives, creating individual learning journeys to record and evaluate progress.
3. Developing a thorough understanding of the EYFS framework.
4. Providing an engaging, fun, age-appropriate learning environment with a variety of stimulating activities.
5. Organizing outdoor activities and visits to local parks and sites, ensuring these experiences have educational value.
6. Collaborating with the nursery's Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Coordinator to support individual learning and development needs.
7. Creating and maintaining learning materials and resources.
8. Understanding and implementing the five outcomes for children from “Every Child Matters” (2004).
9. Maintaining a setting free from discrimination and promoting inclusive practices.
10. Recording key information about children’s routines and communicating daily updates to parents to foster strong partnerships.
11. Adhering to nursery policies and procedures, ensuring all children are stimulated and supported to reach their full potential.
12. Acting as a positive role model and safeguarding the welfare of all children, reporting any concerns regarding illness, neglect, injury, or abuse.
13. Assisting with daily nursery duties, including ensuring a safe, secure, and clean environment.
14. Supporting children with feeding, dressing, personal hygiene, and encouraging independence.
15. Maintaining hygienic standards, assisting with first aid, and ensuring health and safety compliance.
16. Respecting confidentiality and nursery property, and upholding high standards at all times.
17. Participating in out-of-hours activities such as staff meetings and training.
18. Communicating regularly with supervisors and colleagues, and performing any other duties as directed.
The apprenticeship includes:
* Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
* End-Point Assessment
* Off-the-job training
* Functional skills in English and maths (if required)
* Paediatric first aid qualification training
Working hours are Monday to Friday, between 7:30 am and 6:00 pm, scheduled in advance on a rota basis.
