The Role


As the Future Weapon Systems Programme Manager you will be leading on strategically important projects that make a tangible difference to the UKs National Security.


Day-to-day, you will deliver effective management and delivery of the Programme including; developing and growing customer relationships, coordinating technical teams and delivery, leading bids, securing associated follow-on sales and successfully contributing to the overall strategy and business targets.

The Mission Rehearsal team is a highly diverse, energetic and friendly team focussing on the safe delivery of leading edge capability. Your typical day might include Air-to-Air missile firings against representative targets, sinking a decommissioned frigate or supporting delivery of a NATO Missile Defence Exercise. Current programmes managed by the team include Exercise Formidable Shield; Atlantic Thunder; trials and Air-to-Air Missile Firings in Scotland.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Maintain an onsite presence at the Air Ranges during any trials period to ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery
2. Rigorous delivery for all T3E activity within this portfolio using established P3M skills and tools
3. Lead the development of complex bids for future capabilities
4. Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationship
5. Inspire and develop a team of project professionals
6. Work with a team of highly experienced engineers to identify new capabilities that enhance QinetiQ’s offering to our customer

Essential experience of the Programme Manager:

7. Previous demonstrable experience of delivering Programmes within complex domains with challenging safety considerations

Essential qualifications for the Programme Manager:

8. Chartered Project Professional Qualification or willingness to obtain the same with QinetiQ support

This role is 37 hours per week based at either Bristol or MOD Boscombe Down. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
