Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our Healthcare team at HMP Ford, an open prison located in Ford, West Sussex. This prison supports around 396 male patients, many of whom have complex physical health and low level mental health needs. As part of this role, you will be completing referrals to hospital and external services for patients who are reintegrating back into the community.
* Hours: Monday 08:00 - 16:00; Friday 08:00 - 12:00 (12 hours per week or 3 sessions)
* Annual salary up to £125,692 per annum FTE, depending on experience

Main duties of the job
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis and make timely decisions regarding future management
* Serve as a highly specialised resource to other members of the healthcare team and the patients
* Involve in clinical governance and effectiveness activities
Qualifications
* MBChB or MBBS
* Included on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
Job responsibilities
As a GP you will respond to medical problems presented by patients, including diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate inline with guidelines and pathways. This includes prescribing for patients, regularly reviewing medications and monitoring repeat prescriptions.
* Provide medical leadership and expert advice to the wider healthcare team
* Deliver effective patient care, develop high levels of communication with patients, identify and utilise evidence‑based best practice, conduct appropriate clinical audit to improve outcomes
* Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team
* Promote multidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, ensuring systems and processes are in place for managing results, letters, and tasks; undertake clinical risk assessments and implement management strategies for risks
* Share and disseminate acquired knowledge with all team members through development sessions and clinical governance meetings or case reviews
