Private Sector Housing Officer - Initial 3-Month Contract (Flexible Working Available!)
We are currently supporting a Local Authority in the North West area with the recruitment of an experienced Environmental Health Officer/Private Sector Housing Officer for an initial 3-month contract assignment.
This role is part of the Private Sector Housing team, with a strong emphasis on complaint investigation, enforcement responsibilities, and ensuring housing standards are maintained across the sector.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience in:
* Investigating Private Sector Housing complaints
* Carrying out HMO inspections and related enforcement action
* Drafting and serving statutory notices
* Managing regulatory compliance cases from start to finish
* Conducting statutory nuisance investigations (desired)
The role calls for an officer who is able to work independently, manage a diverse caseload efficiently, offer clear professional guidance, and maintain compliance with Environmental Health legislation and local authority policies.
Requirements:
* Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, or an equivalent recognised qualification
* Prior experience working within a local authority Environmental Health setting
* Solid background in enforcement work and investigative procedures
* Proven ability to handle complaints effectively through to conclusion
