Join us as a 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant, helping primary and secondary students who struggle with behaviour, social-emotional challenges, or mental health needs. Leader Education is working with a range of inclusive mainstream and specialist schools across Wakefield to recruit committed Behaviour Support Assistants for full-time, long-term roles. The Role This is a full-time position (Monday–Friday) where you will work closely with identified pupils on a 1:1 basis. Your responsibilities will include: Providing consistent 1:1 behaviour support Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils Supporting emotional regulation and de-escalation Implementing behaviour support plans and EHCP strategies Helping pupils engage positively with learning Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams You may support pupils with SEMH needs, Autism (ASC), ADHD, attachment needs, or trauma-related behaviours. Ideal Candidate We are looking for individuals who are: Calm, patient, and resilient Confident managing challenging behaviour Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people Available for full-time work Consistent and reliable Highly relevant backgrounds include: Youth work or mentoring Behaviour support roles Care or residential work Psychology graduates Sports coaching Pastoral support School experience is helpful but not essential — attitude and resilience are key.
