Senior / Principal Ecologist
Location: York (Hybrid working: remote and in-office attendance)
Type: Permanent, full-time or part-time
Salary: Up to £50,000 (Full-Time Equivalent), dependent on experience
Lanpro is a market-leading, award-winning multidisciplinary consultancy specializing in Planning, Design, and the Environment. We work on diverse projects across sectors such as residential, historic sites, renewable energy, and commercial developments.
We are seeking experienced Senior and Principal Ecologists to join our ecology team in York, Manchester, or Edinburgh. The role involves site surveys, data processing, reporting, and supporting project lifecycle activities. We welcome applicants from consultancy or non-consultancy backgrounds with relevant qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support for ecology and biodiversity surveys and assessments.
* Lead habitat and species surveys, desk studies, and data analysis.
* Prepare reports such as PEA, UKHab, EcIA, and BNG assessments.
* Support project management tasks including scope of works, fee proposals, and health and safety documentation.
* Mentor junior team members and liaise with clients and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum of four years relevant UK experience.
* Driving license preferred.
* CIEEM membership preferred.
Essential Skills and Attributes
* Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
* Ability to undertake site work, including staying away from home.
* Good organizational skills, report writing, and data analysis skills.
* Experience in project management and understanding of legislation and policy.
Desirable Skills
* Protected Species Licences or specialist skills (e.g., bat licence).
* Experience with GIS, HRA, or bat sound analysis.
