Volunteer Police Cadet Leader
Could you spare a few hours each week or month to guide and inspire young people across North Yorkshire?
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Police Cadet family as Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders, supporting and motivating cadets aged 13–18. Everyone brings something valuable to the role—your time, experience, and enthusiasm can make a real difference.
Our Volunteer Police Cadets programme teaches young people about policing duties, basic law, and life skills. Sessions combine practical learning with physical activities, drill, and visits from departments such as the Dog Section, Roads Policing, and Crime Scene Investigation. We also include team building, sports and community engagement to make the experience fun and rewarding for both cadets and leaders.
Could this be you? This is a fantastic opportunity to build leadership skills and positively impact the next generation.
Special Note for Police Officers and Staff
North Yorkshire Police supports Police Staff and Officers by releasing them from their paid role to engage in Cadets as a Volunteer Police Cadet Leader under Employer Supported Policing Leave (ESP).
Those volunteering under ESP during normal working hours can claim up to 96 hours of employee-supported volunteering leave per annum, including 6 hours per month for preparation and two Cadet sessions.
