Clerk of Works - Highways Contractor
We are working with a well-established highways contractor in Essex who is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to join their team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the delivery and oversight of key infrastructure projects across the county.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
·Proven experience inspecting highway construction and maintenance works, including new road layouts for housing developments and local improvement schemes.
·Strong working knowledge of highway materials, methods, and construction standards.
·Excellent understanding of the Specification for Highway Works (SHW) and New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA).
·Solid grasp of on-site health and safety requirements and application of CDM Regulations.
·Confidence in identifying and reporting defects, and resolving issues with a practical and collaborative mindset.
·Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
·Strong documentation skills, including keeping detailed records and photographic evidence of inspections.
This role is ideally suited to someone with a solid background in highways delivery who can hit the ground running and support the quality and compliance aspects of work across active sites.
