Work arrangement: Partially remote, with some face-to-face activity across Scotland and Northern Ireland
Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term for 12 months
About the Role
Fighting With Pride (FWP) seeks an outstanding LGBTQ+ Veterans Community Worker to support LGBTQ+ Veterans, serving personnel, and their families across Scotland and Northern Ireland. This role is vital, rewarding, and will make a significant difference in the lives of our community members. You will work as part of a team with other VCWs based in England and Wales.
About FWP
Founded in January 2020, FWP is a registered charity dedicated to supporting LGBT+ Veterans and their families. Led by Peter Gibson and overseen by a dedicated Board of Trustees, FWP has grown in response to increasing contact from Veterans, especially following the Etherton Report. We aim to support self-esteem, confidence, independence, resilience, and promote positive LGBTQ+ inclusion, including highlighting access to reparations schemes from the Etherton Report.
Key Responsibilities
* Signpost service users to welcoming organizations and support networks
* Support the development of self-esteem, confidence, independence, and resilience among service users
* Work with organizations to enable positive LGBTQ+ inclusion
* Highlight access to reparations schemes related to the Etherton Report
Candidate Profile
* Strong understanding of challenges faced by LGBTQ+ Veterans or related communities
* Experience supporting and developing service users
* Excellent relationship-building skills
* Self-motivated with a passion for helping others
