Yolk Recruitment Public Sector and Not-for-Profit division is partnering with a long-established faith-based organisation to find an experienced Safeguarding Officer on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide advice, information, guidance and direction where there are concerns about children and young people, adults, welfare concerns or potential risks.
* Identify safeguards concerns and respond in accordance with safeguarding guidance, the Safeguarding Code of Practice and statutory guidelines.
* Undertake risk assessments for individuals involved in the organisation’s activities, using national training and tools, and offer relevant support.
* Implement and review Safety Plans with agreed review points reflecting assessed risk levels.
* Support parishes during child or adult protection and safeguarding enquiries, and provide support to parish members affected by such enquiries.
* Maintain accurate records suitable for legal proceedings.
* Support Safeguarding Trainers and volunteer trainers, link and support workers, and assist with delivering safeguarding training programmes.
* Coordinate an annual audit of parish safeguarding arrangements and manage audit data capture and interpretation.
* Prepare progress reports for Operational and Strategic Safeguarding groups covering casework, training and overall Safeguarding Team activities.
* Promote good safeguarding practice and communicate new safeguarding resources and policy changes to parishes.
Requirements
* Driver’s licence and own car.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
* Previous experience managing statutory responses for child and/or vulnerable adult protection cases.
* Relevant professional qualification/registration or equivalent, with level 4 training in child and/or adult protection.
* Proven casework, investigative, and record‑keeping skills.
* Strong background in assessing and managing risk to children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Experience assessing individual risk within activities or congregations.
* Competence in quality assurance processes.
* Empathy for Christian faith and ability to work effectively within a Church of England context.
