Ready to Be the First Face of Oaklands?
Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service, keeping facilities safe and welcoming, and supporting students through every stage of their journey?
Oaklands College is seeking an Admissions & Facility Officer to join our friendly Borehamwood Campus team. This is a unique role where you’ll combine excellent customer service with operational support — making sure our reception and campus facilities run smoothly while also helping students through admissions and enrolment.
As the first point of contact for many of our students, visitors, and staff, you’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming and professional environment, while ensuring that our processes are efficient, accurate, and student-focused.
Why Join Oaklands?
For over 100 years, Oaklands College has been transforming lives through education. We pride ourselves on offering a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where staff and students can thrive.
By joining our Admissions team, you’ll not only help prospective learners take the first step towards their future but also ensure our campus remains a place where everyone feels valued, supported, and secure.
Your Day-to-Day Impact
No two days will be the same — but your key responsibilities will include:
* Welcoming & Supporting Students and Visitors – Be the first friendly face at reception, directing enquiries, issuing ID badges, and maintaining a professional and welcoming reception area.
* Admissions & Enrolment – Support applicants through the process: from enquiries and applications to interviews, enrolment, and data collection.
* Facilities & Security – Monitor campus areas, report safety or maintenance concerns, and ensure classrooms and communal spaces remain safe, tidy, and secure.
* Customer Service Excellence – Handle enquiries by phone, email, and in person in a polite, proactive, and solution-focused way.
* Team Support – Work flexibly with the Admissions and Facilities teams during enrolment, exam periods, marketing events, and staff/student activities.
* Operational Tasks – Manage post and deliveries, issue parking permits, handle cash transactions, and support diary management of reception.
This role also includes periods of lone working at the Borehamwood campus and occasional cover at other campuses.
Is This You?
We’re looking for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy environment, and has a genuine commitment to supporting students and colleagues.
You’ll bring:
* At least 2 years’ experience in an administrative environment
* Good IT skills, including MS Office and database systems
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* A friendly, welcoming, and professional approach
* Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and peak periods
* A willingness to undertake First Aid training (if not already qualified)
And personally, you’re:
* Calm under pressure with a can-do attitude
* Confident engaging with people at all levels
* Enthusiastic, positive, and committed to delivering excellent service
* Respectful of diversity and inclusive in your approach
