Carpenter / Joiner / JoineryAre you a highly skilled Carpenter / Joiner with a passion for bringing creative visions to life and would you like to be part of a team that builds scenic sets for Theatre Productions?If you are, we would like to hear from you.SALARY: £27,643 per annum + Generous Benefits (see below)LOCATION: Mold, Flintshire, WalesJOB TYPE: Full-Time, PermanentWORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per WeekJOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity within the Scenic Construction Workshop Team for a Carpenter / Joiner who will play a key role in building incredible sets for a range of theatre productions.Working as the Carpenter / Joiner you will ensure the highest possible standards of craftsmanship and be instrumental in leading specific project elements, showcasing your expertise and contributing to the magic of theatre.If youve worked as a Scenic Carpenter then great, if not the theatre will consider all candidates who have previous experience working as a Carpenter / Joiner and want to be part of their Scenic Construction Workshop Team.APPLY TODAYIf this job looks like your ideal position, then please send in your CV as soon as possible for our Recruitment Team to review.DUTIESYour duties as the Carpenter / Joiner include:Under the management of the Workshop Manager, and using construction skills in carpentry and metal fabrication, to be responsible for the construction of sets, props or any production item as requested, to the highest possible standards and within the time and budget allocatedSupervise Scenic Carpenter and other workshop team members, where appropriate, and help co-ordinate the workshop, advising the Workshop Manager regarding the progress of the workIn conjunction with the Workshop Manager, to help plan and manage the workflow of the department and lead the team during builds, fit-ups, get-outs and strikes as required, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with all relevant legislation relating to an industrial workplace (including PUWER, COSHH, LOLER).Deputise and manage the department in the absence of the Workshop ManagerWork alongside Construction and Scenic teams to be responsible for a clean, tidy and well-ordered working environment and ensure day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the workshopAssist in the ordering of materials and equipment, monitoring and maintaining the workshops stock levelsAlongside the Workshop Manager, to provide designers with all necessary practical informationAssist during fit-up and production weeks to ensure they run smoothlyUndertake practical work in relation to get-ins, fit-ups, strikes and get-outs, including the assembly, rigging, adjustment and use of scenery, props, rigging and lifting equipmentWork with the Workshop Manager in ensuring training and monitoring of performance of the Scenic Carpenter and other workshop team membersCANDIDATE REQUIREMENTSPractical relevant experience working in construction, carpentry and /or metal fabrication, in a workshop environmentSignificant skills and training in construction methods including carpentry / joinery and / or welding and metal fabricationProven experience of working within a team and supervising or leading projects to completionDemonstrable experience in the preparation and interpretation of plans and construction drawings, with a knowledge of CAD and other applicationsAbility to use and maintain a wide range of workshop based tools and machinery safely and confidentlyAbility to use a wide range of portable power tools and hand tools safely and confidentlyLateral thinking;
