About the Role
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) seeks a Software Development Team Leader to join our permanent full‑time team in Cambridge. This hybrid role combines flexible working from home in the UK with regular office visits. You will shape the architecture and implementation of our software, ensuring performance, security and maintainability.
You will lead a cross‑functional technical team, including back‑end (.NET C#, Node.js), front‑end (HTML/CSS/JS/Vue.js), test automation engineers and site reliability engineers (AWS). Your responsibilities include overseeing the technical aspects of the product roadmap, collaborating with Solutions Architects and Team Leaders, guiding agile workstream members, and directly line‑managing a small number of developers.
Responsibilities
* Shape software architecture and fine‑grained configuration across the development lifecycle.
* Lead cross‑functional technical staff across back‑end, front‑end, automation, and reliability roles.
* Guide agile workstream members in technical implementation and backlog delivery.
* Own technical changes and releases and ensure quality delivery.
* Directly manage a small number of developers.
Qualifications
* Strong full‑stack experience (.NET C# back‑end, HTML/CSS/JS/Vue.js front‑end).
* Experience with DevOps best practices: continuous delivery, continuous testing, infrastructure as code.
* Hands‑on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms.
* Proficiency in Agile practices, particularly Scrum and Kanban.
* People management experience, including workload planning and personal development.
