Overview
There is an excellent opportunity to join the Quantity Surveying team within the Asset Management Directorate of Sandwell MBC.
The team plays a lead role in supporting the Repairs and Maintenance service, Capital Investment service and Compliance and Safety service. This is a great opportunity for a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to be part of a large, multi-disciplined directorate that supports, maintains and improves its stock of over 28,000 homes within Sandwell.
You will be advising and leading on procurement, financial management and contractual related matters. The role will also require you to lead on financial reporting in respect of pre and post contract administration and include the commercial management of construction related works. There is also an element of management and supervisory duties as you will be responsible for Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
Responsibilities
You will contribute to further shaping, supporting and delivering on the objectives of the Quantity Surveying team. Our Quantity Surveyors play a leading role in the procurement of new contracts and all aspects of the procurement process to support multi-disciplinary professionals across the Directorate, from construction related procurement to the supply of goods and services.
Qualifications
You will be expected to demonstrate:
* Excellent knowledge and experience of the full procurement process within Local Government, including utilising appropriate frameworks and Local Government digital platforms.
* Strong knowledge and experience of quantity surveying works, including financial management, cashflow management and estimating in the construction Industry.
* Experience of using Microsoft Office applications and be an advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
* Knowledge of various construction methods used in housing.
* Experience of prioritising varying demands and working with a wide range of stakeholders.
You must have a construction related degree or equivalent level professional qualification (ie, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management). We also expect at least two years post-graduate quantity surveying experience, including completing both pre and post contract duties.

Hours:-
37 hours per week
Flexible working arrangements at management discretion. You will be required to work on site a minimum of two working days or as required.
