Job Description
Location: Stoke-on-Trent Salary Range: £30,000 - £40,000 Working Pattern: Fully Office Based Monday - FridayTitle: Assistant Accountant / Credit Control
Role Overview
This role is responsible for the effective control and development of the Credit Control function, alongside supporting month-end accounting processes, group reporting, and audit requirements. The position sits within the Accounts team and works closely with the Company Secretary.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control
* Full responsibility for the control, operation, and ongoing development of the Credit Control function across all aspects.
Cash Book
* Recording and posting daily bank transactions, including nominal ledger entries.
Month-End Accounts
* Preparation and posting of journals into Exchequer, adhering to strict month-end deadlines.
* Supporting the reconciliation of stock files and the transfer of data into the ERP system.
* Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts and VAT control accounts.
* Assisting with the streamlining and improvement of reporting formats and deadlines.
Group Reporting & Statutory Audit
* Supporting the provision of financial information in response to requests from group finance and external professional bodies, including auditors.
General
* Undertaking additional varied duties as required to support the finance function.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* AAT qualified or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
Desirable
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
* A solid foundational understanding of accounts preparation and account reconciliations.
