Lead Engineering Manager – Capabilities
We are actively seeking an accomplished Lead Engineering Manager to guide and develop our high‑performing backend squad at ClearScore. This team is at the core of our platform, responsible for the critical systems that manage user identity, verification, enrolment, and fraud detection.
Responsibilities
* Lead and develop line‑manage a talented backend squad of mid‑level, senior, and principal engineers; own hiring, onboarding, and growth.
* Drive technical strategy and roadmap for the Identity domain, partnering with the team’s Principal Engineer.
* Lead cross‑squad technical programs; coordinate efforts, manage dependencies, and ensure delivery of major company‑wide initiatives.
* Deliver impact; hold squad accountable for high‑quality, robust, operationally excellent solutions using modern agile practices.
* Shape engineering culture; work with broader engineering leadership to improve managerial and technical best practices.
Desired Skills
* People Leadership – significant experience managing high‑performing engineering teams, developing engineers at all levels.
* Program Leadership – track record of delivering large‑scale, multi‑team programs with complex stakeholder management.
* Strategic & Technical Balance – able to switch between hands‑on technical work and strategic thinking.
* Technical Credibility – robust background in backend systems, familiarity with Scala, Kafka, and architectural discussions.
* Agile Expertise – expert in modern agile practices, using metrics for continuous improvement.
* Mentorship at Scale – able to grow and mentor junior engineering managers.
* Excellent Communicator – open, clear feedback, and effective stakeholder relationships.
