Overview
No previous experience in care is necessary for this role, just a compassionate willingness to support someone's rehabilitation following a stroke. We are seeking a Personal Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a working age woman who recently experienced a stroke. Her recovery has progressed well, but she needs help to return to activities that enriched her life and practical support at home. This role offers 14 hours per week, with hours that can be used flexibly to suit both employer and PA. The position supports the recovery and steps toward independence for a formerly active woman.
Duties
* Support to access leisure activities, such as the gym and swimming.
* Support to get to and from appointments.
* Support and assistance with light household chores and home management tasks.
* Support to access social activities and outings.
* Assistance with some meal planning, preparation and cooking alongside.
* Driving to appointments or social events as required.
Qualifications and preferences
* Knowledge or awareness of stroke/acquired brain injury is an advantage
* Good knowledge of local community resources or willingness to research
* Certification in first aid is an advantage
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with ease
* Valid driving licence is preferred for transportation duties
* A compassionate approach with a genuine desire to help others
* Enhanced DBS will be required
