Position Overview To lead and develop a high-performing engineering function that delivers reliable, efficient, and value-adding support to site operations. This includes proactive maintenance, continuous improvement, and strategic project delivery, all aligned with Solina’s commitment to excellence and long-term value creation. Customer Centric Ensure engineering solutions support production needs and exceed service-level expectations. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand operational challenges and deliver tailored engineering support. Champion a culture of responsiveness and service excellence. Focused Develop and execute a clear engineering strategy aligned with business goals, by implementing root cause analysis and providing suitable solutions Prioritise planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance to maximise equipment uptime. Champion a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE legislation. Review and update risk assessments, safe systems of work, and training programs regularly. Value Driven Monitor and control engineering costs, including maintenance, overtime, and waste. Lead capital and improvement projects that deliver measurable business value (e.g., energy reduction, process optimisation). Ensure optimal resource utilisation and cost-effectiveness. Overseeing the successful delivery of capital, revenue, and improvement projects, ensuring designs and solutions meet all food safety and hygiene requirements. Innovative Drive continuous improvement and innovation across engineering processes. Implement new technologies and practices that enhance performance and sustainability. Encourage creative problem-solving and forward-thinking within the team. Accountable Provide clear direction, technical expertise, and performance management. Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, company policies, and regulatory standards. Own the development and implementation of risk assessments, safe systems of work, and training programs. Deliver on KPIs by managing breakdown history, ensuring compliance with legislative updates, overseeing 3-year electrical renewals and PPM schedules etc., and providing monthly performance reports. Collaborative Build and develop a skilled, engaged, and collaborative engineering team. Work closely with production, quality, and other departments to align engineering with business needs. Foster a coaching culture that supports growth, succession planning, and cross-functional teamwork. Competencies for Success Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Apprenticeship and / or Engineering Technical Qualification Level 3 or above (we are committed to explore applicants with relevant experience on the job without formal qualifications but good understanding of BRC and DSEAR) Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in engineering leadership within manufacturing (FMCG sector / extrusion experience desirable). Experience in developing and implementing PPM and improvement strategies Commitment to continuous improvement and developing team capability Self-starter who demonstrates the ability to work effectively under pressure, with strong attention to detail,, resilience, and the flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances. Good organisational, communication, with the ability to manage multiple sites simultaneously.
