The Senior Youth Worker (No One Left Behind) delivers targeted, inclusive youth work that supports young people to overcome barriers to education, training, or employment. The role focuses on engaging young people—particularly those furthest from the labour market—using strengths‑based, trauma‑informed approaches to build confidence, skills, and aspirations. The post works closely with employability, education, and support services to help young people progress towards positive and sustained destinations.
To deliver targeted, inclusive youth work that supports young people to overcome barriers to education, training, or employment. The post contributes to the No One Left Behind agenda by engaging young people—particularly those furthest from the labour market—through strengths‑based, trauma‑informed approaches, supporting progression to positive and sustained destinations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Deliver planned, needs‑led youth work programmes aligned to No One Left Behind outcomes
2. Engage young people experiencing disadvantage or multiple barriers through one‑to‑one and group work
3. Support young people to develop confidence, employability skills, wellbeing, and resilience
4. Work collaboratively with employability, education, and partner agencies to support progression pathways
5. Support young people to access education, training, volunteering, or employment opportunities
6. Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and outcome reporting
7. Ensure safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and organisational policies are followed at all times
Skills and Competencies
8. Ability to engage and build trusted relationships with young people
9. Understanding of barriers to employability and youth poverty
10. Strong communication and teamwork skills
11. Ability to work flexibly and adapt approaches to meet individual needs
12. Organisational and record‑keeping skills
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
13. Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Community Learning and Development, or equivalent
14. Experience of delivering youth work with young people facing barriers to participation or employment
15. Knowledge of trauma‑informed and strengths‑based practice
16. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
