Responsibilities:
* Design opto-mechanical systems from concept to detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
* Collaborate closely with optical, electronic, and systems engineers to deliver functional designs.
* Perform FEA (thermoelastic, static, dynamic) on components including deformation of optical surfaces.
* Support assembly, integration, and testing in cleanroom environments.
* Liaise with suppliers and manage manufacturing activities and work packages.
* Produce design documentation, maintain logs, and create technical review material.
Skills & experience:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
* Proven experience in the design, build, and test of opto-mechanical systems, ideally for space applications.
* Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar) and FEA experience (e.g. ANSYS).
* Knowledge of mounting optics (lenses, mirrors, filters), kinematic principles, and material selection.
* Excellent problem-solving skills in stress, thermal, and vibration analysis.
* Familiarity with BS8888 drawing standards and a quality-assured engineering environment.
