Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Warrington-based two-form entry primary school as this school is actively seeking an experienced and qualified teaching assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil in year three who has ASD, who is non-verbal with behavioural needs. This is an extremely rewarding long-term full-time role within a supportive mainstream primary school that is at the heart of its localmunity.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a pupil in year 3 on a 1:1 basis, acting as their main point of contact throughout the school day and advocating for them as required. You will work in collaboration with the year 3 class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to provide consistent high-quality support, tailored to best suit your pupils' needs. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Providing dedicated 1:1 support, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment
2. Use Makaton and othermunication strategies to aid in understanding
3. Support SALT targets through daily reinforcement, repetition and practice
4. Implementation of a myriad of positive behaviour strategies best suited to your pupils' response,, brain breaks, movement breaks, sensory play, etc
5. Accurately record and maintain progress including ECHP's and learning journeys
6. Direct liaison with parents/guardians, including recognising key milestones
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, and:
7. Be at least NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified
8. Experience supporting ASD
9. Experience using Makaton and support SALT
10. Be able tomit to a long-term full-time contract
