Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Radiology department as an appointments officer. This role involves managing and booking outpatient appointments across multiple Trust sites for a range of specialties and facilitating the smooth running of the administrative process within Radiology. As the first point of contact for many patients, you will support clinical teams and ensure the efficient operation of radiology services. Responsibilities include coordinating appointments to meet Trust performance targets, maintaining high standards of service for patients, and liaising professionally with internal and external stakeholders. The post holder will be required to book patient appointments, answer telephone and email queries, and cover reception desks if required. Main duties
* Arranging appointments over the telephone with patients
* Booking patient appointments from waiting lists
* Rescheduling and cancelling appointments at short notice, when required
* Rescheduling of appointments due to annual leave/other commitments
* Liaising with clinical admin
* Covering the reception areas on an ad hoc basis
Requirements and expectations
You will possess good communication and IT skills and have previous experience of working in an office environment, preferably with some NHS administration knowledge. A good telephone manner is essential and you must be a good team player showing care and consideration to all our patients and staff.

Job responsibilities
* Make appointments for patients for general and specialized x-ray examinations, general and Gynae Ultrasound examinations, MRI, CT and Interventional examinations in the Radiology Department. Check patients on EPIC and update/amend details as necessary. Work on ICE checking bloods. Liaise with nursing staff and Consultant Radiologists when necessary.
* Explain appropriate preparation instructions before ultrasound or other examinations.
* Make appointments by letter or by telephone.
* Communicate with other health care workers (e.g., Doctors, medical records personnel) on a daily basis.
* Receive patients at Radiology Reception if required and book them in.
* Accurately record patient information on the Radiology Information System (EPIC).
* Provide a caring service to patients by being friendly and approachable.
* Receive and deal with telephone enquiries and liaise with other staff/departments as required.
* Ensure patient confidentiality is observed and maintained for all patient information.
* Participate in weekend and out-of-hours duties as required.
* Carry out duties at other sites within the Trust as needed on an occasional basis.
* Carry out any other duties relevant to the post as requested by the Radiology Bookings Manager or Radiology Service Manager.
* Ability to cover reception desk at short notice to assist with ad hoc cover; assist the secretary team with day-to-day tasks on an ad hoc basis.
