Teaching Assistant needed for a Reception class in Blackburn
We're currently working with a primary school who need an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant.
This position involves working 1:1 with a non-verbal child with additional needs. We're looking for someone patient, calm, and confident with challenging behaviour and personal care.
About the role:
You'll be supporting a child in Reception who needs one-to-one support. Your day-to-day will include:
One-to-one support throughout lessons and playtime
Helping to implement communication strategies (e.g., visuals, Makaton, PECS)
Providing personal care (including toileting)
Supporting with emotional regulation and managing behaviours
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals
Who we're looking for:
Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
At least 6 months of experience in a similar role within a school setting
Confidence in working with children with SEND and communication needs
A calm and positive attitude when supporting children with challenging behaviour
A genuine passion for helping children thrive in the early years
Bonus if you have:
Experience with the EYFS curriculum
Knowledge of non-verbal communication tools
A current enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
