As an Assistant Traffic Engineer you will play an important part in every stage of a project from inception to completion. Responsibilities include
Responsibilities
* To work in a team, producing technically sound traffic engineering solutions including Traffic Regulation Orders, speed limits and traffic calming measures.
* Supporting the management and technical delivery of projects from start to finish.
* Undertake technical design work including the production of electronic drawings using AutoCAD and other related software.
* Respond to the public, Councillors, MPs etc regarding traffic related enquiries, complaints and FOIs.
* Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost and programme.
* Support effective health and safety practices within the team.
Qualifications
* Attained or be working towards ONC, HNC/BEng in Civil Engineering or similar.
* Design experience within a traffic engineering environment.
* Experience in the use of AutoCAD/KeyLines to produce technical drawings.
* Experience of traffic sign design and use of KeySign/KeyPost.
* Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
* Experience of writing Traffic Regulation Orders.
* Experienced in following procedures associated with the management of health, safety and welfare.
* Has knowledge and understanding of technical and specification processes and is starting to take ownership for the production of deliverables with appropriate supervision.
* Knowledge around designing a variety of schemes; parking management, cycling, traffic calming, priority working, minor highways, bus lanes etc.
* Good competence with relevant software and similar analytical tools.
* Has a basic understanding of CDM and risk assessment. Experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects.
* Demonstrates a basic understanding of the different interfaces on projects.
