Shilstone House is a country estate in South Devon. Located in the courtyard, our Café offers a seasonal menu led by what's available from the gardens and local growers.
The Role
We are seeking a reliable and energetic Café Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our café. Working closely with the Café Manager, you will help lead the team, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in overseeing daily Café operations and staff management
· Support and motivate team members to deliver exceptional service
· Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally
· Help with staff training, shift planning, and performance monitoring
· Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards
· Monitor stock levels
· Ensure consistent product quality and presentation
· Take responsibility for opening and closing procedures as needed
Skills & Experience:
· Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role, preferably in a café or food service setting
· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead by example
· Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
· Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Additional Information:
· Your own transport is essential as we are not on any public transport routes
Pay & Benefits:
* 30-40 hours per week – Wednesday - Sunday
* Up to £13-£14 per hour (dependant on age and experience) with tips
