Ward 10 a multi specialialy ward consisting of urology, Colorectal, Upper GI, and General Surgery meaning that you will gain a wealth of surgical experience. As a band 6 you will be expected to lead from the front, coordinate the shift, attend ward rounds, liaise with the multi-disciplinary team as well as support staff maintaining wellbeing and development.
In addition, you’ll support the ward manager with a range of leadership and management responsibilities, helping to foster a positive team culture, coordinate service delivery, and ensure the smooth running of the unit. Your contribution will help drive excellence across both clinical and operational aspects of the service.
Main duties of the job

3. Coordinate the shift, ensuring smooth operations and patient flow.
4. Attend ward rounds and actively participate in patient care discussions.
5. Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure collaborative care.
6. Support staff wellbeing and development, offering guidance and mentorship.
7. Assist the ward manager with leadership and management responsibilities, including: Fostering a positive team culture. Coordinating service delivery. Ensuring the smooth running of the unit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Band 6 Staff Nurse to join our dynamic team on Ward 10, a multi-specialty surgical ward caring for patients across Urology, Colorectal, Upper GI, and General Surgery. Main Duties and Responsibilities
9. Leadership & Coordination
Lead from the front during shifts, ensuring smooth ward operations. Coordinate daily activities and patient flow across the ward. Attend ward rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.
10. Team Collaboration
Liaise effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic patient care. Support staff wellbeing and professional development through mentorship and guidance.
11. Clinical & Operational Excellence
Maintain and build upon high standards of care and patient safety. Assist the Ward Manager with leadership and management duties, including: Fostering a positive team culture. Coordinating service delivery. Ensuring the smooth running of the unit.
Person Specification
12. Registered Nurse (RNA) with current NMC registration.
13. Proven experience in an acute hospital setting, ideally within surgical care.
14. Strong leadership and communication skills.
15. Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
16. Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

18. Appropriate NMC Registration
19. Diploma or Degree in Nursing
20. NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
21. Evidence of continuing professional education or development in area of speciality

23. Evidence of leadership experience and learning
24. Awareness of recent advances within Nursing practice
